A small, highly respected cause marketing agency is looking for a New Business Development Manager to grow both the agency and its not-for-profit foundation. What the job involves:

  • Reporting directly to the managing director in a target-driven role
  • Researching the marketing and CSI landscape to spot opportunities
  • Building a sales strategy and refining the sales collateral
  • Identifying potential clients and the decision makers within them
  • Compiling hit lists, cold calling and networking (online and in person)
  • Setting up meetings and presenting to prospective clients face to face
  • Working with the team to shape proposals and pitches around each client's needs and objectives
  • Writing internal briefing documents
  • Scheduling pitches and managing internal deadlines
  • Owning the content and accuracy of every proposal
  • Keeping campaigns on budget and on schedule
  • Keeping accurate client records
  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting on calls, meetings, proposals and deals closed

What you need to be considered:

  • 5+ years' relevant industry experience
  • A proven track record in new business development
  • Experience with purpose-led brands or in CSI
  • A strong understanding of below-the-line marketing and/or CSI
  • Experience understanding target markets and devising campaigns that engage, inform, educate and motivate
  • A solid network of industry contacts
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Keeping a cool head when deadlines and targets stack up
  • Up to date on the latest marketing trends and best practice
  • A degree in Communications or a business-related field
  • Matric / grade 12
  • Contactable references

Bonus points if you:

  • Have worked on both the brand side and the not-for-profit side of CSI
  • Have experience in markets across Sub-Saharan Africa
